We've Got a Spot Waiting Just for You!
WE AT CCC WANT TO BE JUST CHRISTIANS: Does this sound strange to you? With so many different churches around, it might seem impossible to be a Christian without being a member of some denomination. Well, it is not only possible, but there are actually millions of “Christians only” in America and around the world! Christian Churches: Members of churches like Crestview Christian Church are “just Christians.” We belong to no denomination. We are not so exclusive that we believe that we are the only Christians, but we sincerely desire to be “Christians only.” The name “Christian” means “belonging to Christ.” In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said, “I will build My church.” We, therefore, prefer to wear His name and His alone. Our Distinctive Plea: Our plea to all Christendom is summed up in these few words: “In essentials, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things, love.” Our plea to the lost is to come to Christ just as people did almost 2,000 years ago, as penitent believers, ready to be baptized into Christ (Acts 2:38; Galatians 3:27) and to live a new life (Romans 6:1-4). By “unity in essentials” we mean “Where the Bible speaks, we speak, and where the Bible is silent, we are silent.” What the Bible requires, we must require. By “liberty in opinions” we mean that some things are not specifically spelled out in Scripture, so we are at liberty to believe or practice as we see fit. By “love in all things” we mean that Christian love must prevail among all Christians and even in our attitude toward non-Christians. The truth must be spoken in love (Ephesians 4:15), and love for one another must prevail, even when we disagree. There are some doctrines so closely related to salvation that there is little, if any, room for differences, and there are others not related to salvation. For example, the doctrine of the deity of Christ bears directly upon our salvation, as does repentance and baptism, but doctrines of church policy do not. Since our brotherhood is based upon our relationship with Christ and God, we may differ in opinions and some points of doctrine and still be brothers and sisters in Christ. The Bible Only: We believe that only the Bible is inspired of God, and, therefore, we accept only the Bible as our authoritative rule for faith and practice. The Old Testament formed the basis of Judaism. Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism, and the New Testament is Christianity’s guidebook. Someone has wisely said, “The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.” You Can Be “Just A Christian” We believe the “Bible only” makes “Christians only”. It is our conviction that if we do the same things to be saved and added to the church as the first century believers did, we will be just as they were - just Christians. In the book of Acts, the book of conversions, we find that people became Christians by coming to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and by manifesting that faith in repentance, confession, baptism, and Christian living. See Acts 2, 8, 16 and 22.
